So says the designer of the Eyetique stores, architect Alan Dunn.
Each location is a variation of the stylistic themes established at the Squirrel Hill store. "The common denominator to all of them is an attempt to create a highly visual environment," added Dunn, who is president Pittsburgh based Alan Dunn & Associates, Inc.
The coloring of the walls and neon lighting infuse the environment with an earthy character via shades of brown, beige and soft gold. That earthy motif is furthered by the warm tones of the display cases housing Eyetique's varied selection of high fashion frames. the store's low-voltage, direct lighting gives the interior a sparkle.
And as always, the surroundings are enhanced by the Burton Morris' pop-art murals, created especially for Eyetique.
When viewed from the store's exterior, the design is intended to draw the viewer's eye in the same way a magnet entices steel. "I think more than anything, they should feel a vitality and an intrique of wanting to explore the space," said Dunn.
He described Wilkins Township and the other Eyetique locations as "bright, colorful and welcoming. There's nothing cookie cutter about the stores. They are very unique to Pittsburgh."
"The common denominator for all of them is contemporary, visually exciting and colorful environments with highly creative means of displaying the eyewear."
